Barry, tired of 'Cro Cop' criticism, wants to crush Beltran

There's nothing nasty about Pat Barry outside the cage. Inside the Octagon can sometimes be a different story. If he's focused, Barry can be one of the most devastating strikers in the heavyweight division. That's a big if.

Too often, Barry's pleasant disposition follows him into his fights. The stocky kickboxer says there will be no loss of focus this weekend against Joey Beltran at the UFC's Fight for the Troops 2.

"This is a feeling I haven’t had in a long time," Barry told Sherdog. "Back in my kickboxing days, I used to have these every once in a while. Just an angry, want to break something, upset at something. I don’t know what it is. I don’t know what it is that’s giving me this feeling, this sensation, but I’m very annoyed. Like I’m extremely annoyed and I feel like I’ve got to break something."

He wasn't "annoyed" enough back in June during his last fight against Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic and it cost Barry dearly.

Barry spoke often before the UFC 115 fight about what an honor it was to fight his idol. He was so pleasant it even got the normally stoic, business-like Cro Cop to lighten up.

When the fight hit the cage, the gap between the fighters was obvious. Cro Cop is a worn down 36-year-old while Barry, 31, has a lot of fight left in him. The American mauled Cro Cop early in the fight, but starting screwing around and turned things into a sparring session. Cro Cop went into survival mode and submitted a tired Barry. Since the upset loss, the talk of Barry's lack of killer instinct has been incessant.

"I’m still hearing about that, I’m still hearing people," Barry said. "My mother’s hearing this kind of [expletive]. People are approaching my mother and making these comments to her. It’s still going on now."

On the surface, Beltran appears to be a good matchup for Barry. He's a smallish heavyweight who likes to stand and bang, but he can also take a beating and has enough wrestling in his arsenal to pose a major threat to Barry if he doesn't take of business early.

UFC Will Stream Fights on Facebook

by Michael David SmithThe UFC has announced that two fights on the non-televised portion of Saturday night's Fight for the Troops event will be streamed live on the promotion's official Facebook page.

"I'm always looking for ways to give fans fights for free and this is just another example of that," UFC President Dana White said in a statement. "Facebook is such a great tool for people to stay connected and we're excited to put two live fights on our UFC page for free."

The UFC, more than any other sports league, has used social networking to connect to fans. So from that perspective, it's easy to see why they'd do this Facebook deal. But the deal still seems a little weird.

King Mo Talks UFC Bias In MMA

Former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion King Mo Lawal has picked up on the bias that exists in MMA between the sport it's self and the UFC and talked to Bloodyelbow.com and Fiveknuckles.com about it:<br><br> "(Gegard) Mousasi was like my sixth or seventh fight. In the fight I tried trading with him but he was covering up from my strikes so I took his ass down. Now they say he is overrated. Simply put if he was in the UFC and I was in the UFC and that fight happened we wouldn't get that flack and we would've been all good. Some people are just groupies and they are idiots who are quick to say that someone is overrated just because they don't know sh*t about MMA. They may know certain things about the sport but they don't know sh*t about MMA."<br><Br> "If some of this stuff happened in the UFC, the fans would give it more praise for sure. If (Alistair) Overeem did some of the things he's doing in the UFC, he would be considered the next God. The fact of the matter is a lot of these fans aren't familiar with what's going on in Japan, and then they try to call Strikeforce 'Strikefarce' because they hear Dana White call it that. Dana White has his own opinion or whatever, but fight fans need to have their own opinion and their own way of thinking, but we know that's asking a lot."

Two-additional bouts added to "UFC 129: St-Pierre vs. Shields"; 12 bouts total so far

Beginning as a welterweight earlier in his career, it’s incredible to see Ivan Menjivar eventually pair down to the bantamweight division at 135-pounds. My earliest memory of the Canadian was when he battled Georges St. Pierre in the champion’s professional debut years ago in a 170-pound affair, actually coming in a pound over the required [...]
